School Holiday Activities
in Sydney?
Sydney school holidays can feel like a puzzle — between restless kids and the endless scroll through “things to do in Sydney school holidays,” it’s easy to end up at yet another indoor play centre. If you’re after something genuinely memorable that gets kids off screens and builds real confidence, horse riding at Centennial Park belongs at the top of your list.
Unlike most Sydney school holiday activities, our camps aren’t a one-hour drop-in. Children spend the day with real horses — grooming, caring for, and riding them under qualified coaches. It’s hands-on, educational, and the kind of thing kids talk about for weeks afterwards.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can't find your answer? Get in touch — we're happy to help.
Do kids need riding experience for a horse riding holiday camp?
Not at all. Both camps are open to complete beginners, with no experience needed. Our coaches are highly experienced in working with first-time riders and take great care to ensure every child feels comfortable, safe and confident from the very beginning.
Which camp is right for my child?
For kids aged 5 to 7, the Junior Jockey Camp is a great starting point, with a relaxed half-day program designed specifically for younger riders. For children aged 7 and over, the Full-Day Holiday Camp offers a full day of riding, horsemanship and fun activities. Not sure which one suits? Get in touch and we’ll point you in the right direction.
What's the difference between the two camps?
The Junior Jockey Camp (half-day, ages 5–7) includes one ride per day of around 50–70 minutes. The Full-Day Holiday Camp (ages 7+) includes two rides daily — a group lesson in the arena followed by a guided trail ride through Centennial Park, each roughly 50–70 minutes. If the weather doesn’t play ball, the trail ride is swapped for an extra arena lesson or a mounted games session instead.
Can a 4-year-old join the program?
Yes — children aged 4 may join our Junior Jockey Camp, provided they are comfortable participating in a group environment.
Please note that 4 years old is the minimum age permitted, in line with our insurance requirements. As this is a structured group program, we recommend that younger children are able to follow instructions and feel confident being around animals.
What do kids do at a horse riding school holiday camp in Sydney?
Every day is hands-on, fun and genuinely educational. Activities vary by season and theme, but you can expect a mix of themed games, arts and crafts, pony decorating, and horse care sessions, including grooming, washing, feeding, tacking and untacking, plus horsemanship talks covering horse health and behaviour. There’s never a dull moment, and the kids are always kept busy between rides.
What is the coach-to-child ratio?
We keep our groups deliberately small, with roughly one coach for every five children. Junior helpers and senior volunteers also assist throughout the day, so every rider receives plenty of one-on-one attention and support from drop-off to pick-up.
What should my child bring to camp?
What happens if it rains?
Our programs run in most weather conditions. In the event of rain, the park ride is replaced with an additional lesson in the undercover arena or a fun mounted games session, so children can continue to enjoy a full day of riding and activities.
Do you accept Active Kids vouchers?
We’re not currently registered to accept Active Kids vouchers for our school holiday programs. However, we do offer early bird discounts and multi-day savings, so booking ahead is a great way to get more value for your money.
Where is Eastside Riding Academy located in Sydney?
