Riding & Horsemanship
Every session combines time in the saddle with hands-on grooming, horse care, and safety education.
Preferred Coaches

01

Program Overview

Ready Set Trot is a beginner to intermediate riding program designed for young riders beginning or continuing their equestrian journey. It combines structured riding lessons with practical theory in a fun and supportive environment.
The program is designed for children aged 7 years and over, typically primary school age onwards. It suits complete beginners through to early intermediate riders, including those progressing from Junior Jockeys.
No previous experience is required. The program supports beginner through to early intermediate riders, with coaching tailored to each child's confidence and ability.
Ready Set Trot runs as a 10-week program, aligned with the school term calendar.
Each session is 2 hours total, consisting of a 1-hour group riding lesson and a 1-hour theory session covering horse care, safety, and horsemanship.
The theory component is a practical, hands-on learning session conducted on the ground. Riders learn essential horsemanship skills including grooming, feeding, safety around horses, and horse welfare.
02

Learning & Progression

Riders develop core riding skills alongside essential horse knowledge, including balance, control, confidence in the saddle, and understanding horse behaviour and care.
As riders progress, they are gradually introduced to more advanced skills such as canter work and pole exercises. Jumping is introduced only when riders are ready and have built a strong foundation.
Yes. Many riders complete Ready Set Trot across multiple terms as they continue building confidence, consistency, and riding skills.
03

Group & Safety

Riders are grouped by age and ability to ensure a safe, supportive, and appropriately paced learning environment.
Group sizes are kept small, with approximately 1 coach to 5 riders, to allow individual coaching attention while maintaining a positive group learning experience.
Horses are selected based on training level and rider ability. While we always aim to match riders with the most suitable horse for their needs, allocations may vary depending on availability on the day. Beginner riders are always paired with calm, experienced horses appropriate for learning.
Yes. The program is structured and supportive, and many shy or nervous riders thrive with calm horses and step-by-step coaching.
Yes. All sessions are supervised by experienced coaches, with additional support provided where needed. Beginner riders are also supported by allocated leaders to assist them throughout their lesson, helping build confidence and ensure a safe learning environment.

Booking & Attendance

Where spaces are available, mid-term enrolments may be accepted. However, starting at the beginning of the term is recommended for consistent progression.
Trial lessons may be available depending on availability. Please contact the office to discuss the most suitable entry option.
As this is a structured group program, missed lessons are generally unable to be rescheduled. However, we offer up to 2 make-up lessons per term, subject to availability. Make-ups must be requested with at least 48 hours' notice, or supported by a medical certificate. Please contact the office if you need assistance arranging this.
Ready Set Trot follows the school term calendar and does not run during school holidays. However, we offer special holiday options and programs for riders who wish to stay in the saddle during break periods.
We aim to keep lesson times consistent where possible; however, schedules may vary depending on availability each term. Re-enrolling early through our loyalty program can help secure preferred and consistent riding times.
